1.Eid Celebrations - 25 July 2015 To celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, OUBS arranged a buffet dinner at Hertford College. A short cultural program was also arranged. The guests enjoyed the Bangladeshi food which was prepared by Aziz Restaurant, Cowley Road, Oxford. It was open for all.
2.Meet Bangladesh – 5 March 2015 Meet Bangladesh was a social program arranged for students who wants to know Bangladesh and meet Bangladeshi students. The event provided some free snacks and a lot of students came and chat with the society members. It was arranged at the Old Library Room, Hertford College. 3.International Mother Language Day - 21st February 2015 This is the second time OUBS arranged an event marking this historic day.
4.OUBS Seminar Series – 18 November 2014 The invited speaker of the first lecture of the Seminar series was Professor Tipu Z. Aziz, founder and head of Oxford functional neurosurgery, Senior Member of OUBS. The seminar was held on 28 November 2014 at 6:00 pm, Old Library Room, Hertford College. The title of the talk was "Emerging and Current Indications of Deep Brain Stimulation". The talk was 40 minutes long followed by Q&A. It was a free event and nibbles and drinks were provided for the guests.
5.Eid/Fresher’s Dinner 2014 – 21 October 2014 A dinner was arranged for the freshers as well as to celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha at Jee Saheb Restaurant, 15 North Parade Avenue, Oxford OX2 6LX.
6. Inaugural of Oxford University Bangladesh Society- 21st June 2014 It was the second big event organized by the society at Lecture Theatre L3 and Mezzanine level under south crystal, Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, Andrew Wiles Building, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG
The main program started at 6:30 pm. It was hosted by Alifa Bintha Haque. After welcoming speech of Mustak Ibn Ayub, President, Oxford University Bangladesh Society (OUBS), Professor Andrew Hamilton, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Oxford gave the inaugural speech. OUBS Senior Member Professor Tipu Z. Aziz, Special guest Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mr. Robin Birch, Councillor Rae Humberstone, the Sherriff of Oxford, Mr. Sabir Mustafa, Head of BBC Bengali Service, BBC World Service, Professor Saleh Tanveer of Ohio State University and Mrs. Farida Anwar, the newly elected Bangladeshi Councillor of Headington Hill and Northway congratulated the society warmly and expressed their feelings. In between the speeches, a short presentation (length 3 mins) on the activities of Oxford (University) Bangladesh Society, a short audio-visual named ’Beautiful Bangladesh: Land of Stories’ was shown to the audience. A cultural segment was incorporated, too. Ruksana Haque Rimi, first year D.Phil. student at the Department of Geography and Environment and Dr. Rukhsana Safa, our invited singer, sang some songs. Mustak Ibn Ayub, 2nd year D.Phil. student at the Department of Oncology, recited a poem of his own. The program concluded with the vote of thanks from Tania Sharmin Khaleque, Secretary, Oxford University Bangladesh Society. At the end a 3-course buffet dinner was served. The dinner was supplied by the renowned Bangladeshi restaurant in Oxford, Aziz Restaurant, Cowley Road. It was a lively event where the guests had a wonderful time. Around 75 people attended this gorgeous evening. 7.21st February 2014 International Mother Language Day This was the first time International Mother Language Day was observed in Oxford by a student society. And also it was the first event organized by Oxford (University) Bangladesh Society. The programme was arranged at Harris Lecture Theatre, Oriel College, OX1 4EW, Oxford on 21 February 2014, Friday between 6:00-8:30pm.
